The HideOut is a craft ale retailer, located in the market town of Leek, Staffordshire. They got in touch with us here at Elevate as their owners were in their first year of trading, with no previous business experience and needed to understand business performance and managing cashflow to improve their chances of success.
The HideOut was setup onto Xero which gave the owners instant access to their business’ performance. Key performance indicators were introduced to manage sales, gross profit, wages metrics and to keep control over overheads. Regular meetings were diarised to ensure that as the business grew and changed, advice was at hand to best plot the way forward and to identify tax planning opportunities as they arose.
As a new business, we had the passion and knowledge about craft beer and gin but we had very little understanding of accounting. We quickly realised that handling finance in a business is as important as the stock and the service itself. Invoices, staff payroll, everything that would fall into accountancy was alien to us.
After our first meeting with James at Elevate, our worries about jargon, endless spreadsheets, and hidden charges were put to rest. We had previously viewed accounting as a necessary headache, whereas actually, it’s become part of our success. Now over a year into running our business, we have actually saved money by getting exceptional, straight-talking, honest advice.
James has become a very valued member of our growing business. We didn’t think that somebody outside of the family could be as passionate or care about our business so much. We are able to focus on running our business creatively knowing that we’re in safe hands. It was one of the best decisions we’ve ever made – you can’t put a price on peace of mind.
